Roots Reggae • Culture • Conscious Music
Ras Shiloh is a roots reggae artist celebrated worldwide for his soaring tenor voice and spiritually conscious lyrics. Deeply grounded in the Rastafarian faith, his music carries a timeless message of truth, unity, and redemption, resonating across cultures and generations.
Emerging from Brooklyn, New York’s rich sound-system tradition, Ras Shiloh began performing at a young age under the name “Big Belly Youth” on Bally’s International Sound System. Guided by elders such as James Burn, who bestowed the name Big Belly Youth, and influenced by reggae greats including Frankie Paul, Tenna Star, Nitty Gritty, Sluggy Ranks, Trevor Sparks, and Screechy Dan, he was shaped early by the foundations of authentic reggae culture. He later embraced the name Ras Shiloh, reflecting his devotion to Rastafari and spiritual purpose.
Ras Shiloh gained international recognition in the mid-1990s with powerful singles such as “Jah Calling” and “Child of a Slave.” His recording career expanded with a series of acclaimed albums, including Idrens Chant, Babylon You Doom, Listen Well, From Rasta to You, Only King Selassie, and Coming Home, establishing him as a respected voice in modern roots reggae.
In 2024, Ras Shiloh returned with "See It Deh", a Grammy-nominated album rooted in spiritual truth and classic reggae vibrations. The project features standout tracks such as “Tears From My Eyes,” “On My Ship,” and the title track “See It Deh.” Continuing his creative momentum, his 2025 singles “The Greatest,” “Think,” “Life Means Everything,” and “Dry Those Tears” affirm his enduring relevance and vocal strength for a new generation of reggae listeners.
“Music is not about hits — it’s about message, vibration, and the power of the Most High.” — Ras Shiloh
